The base sight picture from Outside Centre. On a big-way, Outside Centre steers the base to face jump run, so the aircraft sits between Inside Centre's legs. Facing that way opens the two approach lanes: divers come down the line of flight behind Inside Centre, and floaters come from behind Outside Centre's shoulder. A 4-way with no divers or floaters has no lanes to set up and does not need this. Head-Down 304 covers flying base in full.
